One armed fighter- Nick Newell retires after WSOF 24

13-1 Nick Newell, who was born with only half a left arm, has had a pretty solid MMA career despite the disability. He was the long time undefeated XFC champion and had a solid 4-1 run with WSOF, his only loss to WSOF champion- Justin Gaethje.

But following an 11-0 run with 10 finishes, he has gone 2-1 with no finish wins. After his fight the 29 year old announced to the crowd that this would be his last fight.

Newell won a controversial decision against the very tough Marcellino that had much of the crowd booing. Though he may have won two rounds, it was clear that he definitely took the most punishment. The congenial amputee said that fighting was getting “too hard” and that it was time to “pass on his wisdom” to others.

Nick defied the odds in amateur wrestling and now in MMA and is leaving on his own terms. Congrats on a great career!
