22-0 Khabib Nurmagomedov has announced he may retire after a recent rib injury, his 3rd consecutive injury that has kept him out of the UFC nearly 2 years. He was slated to take on Tony Ferguson in December but was forced to pull out. Here’s his statement.
“I want to apologize to my fans, I broke my rib, and again I am out of the fight. I really wanted to come back, I’m not sure if i will ever come back. Thanks to my fans and my sponsors. Praise to Allah”.
Nurmagomedov (22-0) last fought in April 2014 where he defeated now UFC champion- Rafael dos Anjos (24-7) by lopsided decision.
It would be a tragic career loss, he is considered by many the best 155er on earth, since dominating RDA in his last fight, RDA has went on a huge win streak and won the UFC title and Khabib hasn’t fought since. It’s a shame that the man who many feel is the undefeated uncrowned champion may never fight again.
