Warren had previously defeated Galvao early on in his Bellator run back in 2011, and a possible rubber match could have been made this year had Warren not tested positive for Marijuana and subsequently been suspended.
Galvao and Dantas faced off first in 2013 at Bellator 89, where the roles were switched as the Bantamweight championship belonged to to Dantas at the time. Dantas would successfully defend his title, finishing Galvao in the second round by knockout. Galvao would go on to win three straight and earn another oppurtunity at the title he know holds. Dantas went on to defend his title once more, before being dethroned by Joe Warren.
