Holly Holm’s Fight Manager Preassuring for Tate Match if Rousey is Out Too Long

Despite Dana White breaking news of an immediate rematch between Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey, Holm’s fight camp isn’t thrilled about how long they may have to wait for that to happen.

Rousey told Espn that her injuries will keep her from fighting for the next 6-8 months, which may or may not be soon enough for UFC 200 on July 9, the date Rousey originally intended to defend her belt had she had won. But that didn’t sit well with Holm’s Manager Lenny Fresquez.

Fresquez said to the L.A.Times on Dec. 8, “I’m not sure Ronda will be ready for the July Fight. She took a severe beating, and I don’t it’s in her interest to take the next fight so fast.” Fresquez further commented on his fighter and a potential match with Miesha Tate. “Holly’s used to staying active. We come from an old school, and the Number 1 contender is there for a reason. Tate deserves a shot, but it’s not for to decide. We’d like to fight Miesha. We understand there are risks, but Holly’s a dominant champion, and she wants to fight the best. Right now, Meisha is the best.”

No word on any further negotians, but there’s no doubt that Tate is eager for a title shot after she was passed up for Holly Holm at UFC 193.
