Two former Strikeforce Light Heavwyeights meet on Superbowl weekend at UFC 196 in Las Vegas. The fight was announced on UFC Tonight.
Saint Preux (18-7, 6-2 in UFC) is coming off a tough third round submission loss to former title challenger Glover Teixeira. Prior to that loss, “OSP” earned first round knockout victories over “Shogun” Rua and Patrick Cummins. His only other loss inside the Octagon comes against Light Heavyweight contender Ryan Bader.
Calvacante (12-6, 1-3 in UFC) has yet to claim victory in over two years inside the Octagon. His lone win in the UFC came against former UFC fighter Igor Pokrajac in November 2013. Since then he has lost to both Ryan Bader and most recently Patrick Cummins at UFC 190 in his home country of Brazil.
The card will be headlined by a UFC Heavyweight championship bout between Fabricio Werdum and Cain Velasquez. With this bout, UFC 196 looks as such:
