The Fighter of the Year 2015 is…. Conor McGregor!

He started the year with an interim title fight against number 1 ranked contender- Chad Mendes. At the time Chad had only lost to Aldo in his whole career, and was coming off a close decision loss to Aldo the year before.

It wouldn’t end well for Mendes- Conor KOed him in round 2  earning a shot at Aldo’s belt and unification. After much trash talk from both sides, Conor finished the 6 year reigning champion by 13 second KO. The fastest finish in a title fight in UFC history, ending the “Aldo Era” and a ten year undefeated streak.

What 2016 holds for Conor could be bigger than 2015- as he could be the first fighter in UFC history to hold titles in two different weight classes concurrently.
