UFC Hall of Famer and former Lightweight and Welterweight champion BJ “The Prodigy” Penn is seemingly looking to come out of retirement to face Nik “The Carny” Lentz in a grudge match after formally calling out Lenz via Instagram.
Penn (16-10-2, 12-10-2 in UFC) hasn’t competed since losing a rubber match to former UFC Lightweight champion Frankie Edgar in the summer of 2014. Penn hasn’t competed at Lightweight since losing the second matchup with Edgar at UFC 118 in 2010.
Lenz has been a barb in Penn’s backside as of late, consistantly making fun of Penn any time his name is mentioned in interviews even taking it as far as making a egregious poem about Penn on Chael Sonnen’s Your Welcome podcast. Lentz most recently returned to 155 lbs against Danny Castillo in a winning effort at UFC on Fox 17 after citing the weight cut down to featherweight was too much on his health.
No response has yet been made by Lentz or the UFC as to whether they are interested in this matchup. Stay tuned.
