Michael “Venom” Page removed from Bellator 151, replaced by Gilbert Smith.

“MVP” will no longer co-headline Bellator 151 in March.

Michael Page was removed from his bout with Fernando Gonzalez on the March 4th card in Oklahoma. Bellator Officials confirmed the news on Tuesday with MMAFighting. The promotion will not be giving an official reason as to why Page has been removed from the event.

The enigmatic and popular Welterweight Michael Page (9-0, 5-0 in Bellator) hsa produced four knockout finishes in his five Bellator wins, most recently finishing Charlie Ontiveiros inside the first round.

Fernando Gonzalez (24-13) was set to make his MMA debut with Bellator against Page, and will now instead face former Ultimate Fighter veteran and current RFA Welterweight champ Gilbert Smith (12-4) who will also be making his Bellator debut. Gonzalez most recently faced Paul Daley in a kickboxing bout at the Bellator MMA: Dynamite 1 show. Gonzalez vs. Smith will continue to serve as the nights co-main event. Bellator 151 will be headlined by a Bantamweight feature bout between Joe Warren and Darrion Caldwell.
