After the unveiling of two title fights that will headline June’s pay-per-view, the UFC announced Monday morning the first bout added to UFC 199.
Former top ranked Featherweight and now No. 10 ranked Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier takes on the returning Bobby “King” Green.
Poirier (19-4 MMA, 11-3 in UFC) has been on a hot streak ever since he made the dramatic move up to 155 lbs. Rounding out three back to back wins against Carlos Diego Ferreira, Yancy Meideiros, and most recently against Joe Duffy. Poirier now finds himself ranked in to the top ten of the Lightweight division and could be closing in on a potential title shot should he continue to add to his impressive run that has also earned him two Performance of the Night bonuses.
Bobby Green (23-6 MMA, 4-1 UFC) will making a return to competition after a long layoff. Green hasn’t competed since losing to Edson Barboza at UFC Fight Night 57: Edgar vs. Swanson which was in November of 2014. Prior to that loss, Green was on an 8-fight winning streak that included UFC wins against Jacob Volkmann, Pat Healy, and Josh Thomson.
UFC 199 takes place at The Forum in Inglewood, California on June 4th and will be broadcast live on pay-per-view.
