Dana White, while speaking to Brett Okamoto backstage at the MGM Grand and revealed that a rematch between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier could be placed as the main card for UFC 200 if both men are fit to fight by that time. “If they’re both healthy, yea, it’s a possibility that could be the main event of UFC 200,” White said.

Jones had previously beat Cormier by unanimous decision at a Light-Heavyweight title fight at UFC 182 back in January 2015. Cormier originally stepped as a replacement for the injured Alexander Gustafson at UFC 178 in September 2014, but Jones got injured before the fight could happen. Thanks to the heated rivalry between the two, Cormier was kept on for the rescheduled title fight instead of Gustafson.

Jones was stripped of his title in April 2015 after involved in a hit-and-run incident in Albequerque. Cormier then defeated Anthony Johnson by rear-naked choke to win the vacant title, which he later defended against Gustafson. Cormier was originally scheduled to fight Jones at UFC 197, but was replaced Ovince Saint Preux after he was also forced to pull out due to injury. Jones defeated Saint Preux by unanimous decision.
