Kid Yamamoto returns to face Chris Beal at UFC Fight Night 89: MacDonald vs. Thompson

The legendary Bantamweight from Japan returns in June and will face off against TUF veteran Chris Beal as announced this past weekend.

Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto vs. Chris Beal was added to UFC Fight Night 89 which takes place on June 18th at the TD Place Arena in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Yamamoto (18-6(2), 0-3(1) in UFC) makes a return to cage after a year-long absence since walking away from UFC 184 with a no contest in his match-up with Roman Salazar due to an accidental eye poke from Norifumi. While the fight ending foul occurred during the middle of the second round, many opted in favoring Yamamoto as the winner of the first round. Yamamoto was scheduled to return at UFC Fight Night 75 last Fall but an unfortunate leg injury sidelined the Japanese legend.

Beal (10-2, 2-2 in UFC) will be making a return to Bantamweight following a 0-2 losing run at Flyweight where he dropped decisions to Neil Seery and Chris Kelades. At Bantamweight, Beal holds wins over Patrick Williams and Tateki Matsuda. Beal is an Ultimate Fighter veteran who participated on the 18th season and was a competitor on Ronda Rousey’s team. Beal was submitted by the shows eventual winner Chris Holdsworth in his second bout in the house via guillotine choke.
