A phenomenal Mexican clash is now set to unfold at UFC 201.
Announced Tuesday by Indicutido, Mexican-born star Erik “Goyito” Perez will face Francisco “Cisco” Rivera in a Bantamweight bout.
Perez (15-6, 5-2 in UFC) is coming off a minor but needed victory in his last fight against Taylor Lapius at The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 2 Finale last November. Prior to that Perez had gone 2-2 in his last four dropping losses to Takeya Mizugaki and Bryan Caraway while scaling wins over Byron Bloodworth and Edwin Figueroa. The pride of Guadalupe, Mexico has seven submission wins, and four knockouts out of his 15 total victories.
Rivera (11-6 (1), 4-4 (1) NC in UFC) is in desperate need of a victory in this bout as he is currently riding a two-fight losing skid coming into this bout after dropping a close decision to Brad Picket in his last fight this past February, and being submitted by former Flyweight John Lineker. Rivera holds wins over Edwin Figuroa, George Roop, and lastly defeated Alex Caceres last Summer. Rivera has eight knockouts out of his total 11 victories.
UFC 201 takes place on July 30th at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA. The card will be headlined by a Welterweight title fight between Robbie Lawler and Tyron Woodley. The rest of the card:
