A clash between two of the most exciting Featherweight prospects in the game will do battle in the main event of the UFC’s first trip to Salt Lake City.
Ultimate Fighter: Latin America season 1 winner Yair Rodriguez will take on Ultimate Fighter season 11 alum Alex “Bruce Leroy” Caceres. Several other bouts were announced alongside the main event.
Rodriguez (7-1, 4-0 in UFC) won the debut season of the The Ultimaate Fighter: Latin America back in November of 2014 and his star has only soared since. After defeated Charles Rosa and Dan Hooker back to back, he recently scored a Knockout of the Year candidate over Andre Fili after finishing Fili with a jumping high kick that put his lights out cold. Looking to make it five in a row inside the Octagon, Rodriguez carries with him much momentum and a 42% finishing rate with two knockouts and one submission victory out of his seven total wins.
Caceres (12-8, 7-6 in UFC), a more seasoned fighter inside the Octagon, is bouncing back quick after looking the most impressive he has ever been in the UFC after his dismantling of Cole Miller at UFC 199. Caceres took the fight on two weeks notice. The one they call “Bruce Leeroy” is 2-0 since making his return back up to Featherweight after a 5-4 stint at Bantamweight that saw him face the likes of Damacio Page, Sergio Pettis and Urijah Faber.
