Espn’s Brett Okamoto revealed the Kevlvim Gastelum will replace the former UFC Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler in the upcoming fight against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone” in the welterweight division. Okamoto broke the news via Twitter. “Just confirmed with @danawhite, Cowboy Cerrone vs. Kelvin Gastelum agreed for UFC 205 on Nov. 12 at MSG.”
Gastelum (12-2), who had been the winner of the TUF 17 season, is coming off decision victory over the former Welterweight Champion Johny Hendricks. Cerrone had previously mostly fight at lightweight until he failed to obtain the title after getting knocked out in the first round by Rafael Dos Anjos on UFC on FOX last December. Since moving to welterweight, Cerrone has won three straight victories in row. Cerrone started with a submission over Alex Oliveira, and then finished Herman Cote and Rick Story (both had never been stopped before). A victory for either fighter could leave them one or two fights away from a title run.
