PFL was not good to “Lil Heathen” in his first outing, As he lost a competitive decision to Clay Collard but tonight he held on to an early lead to win a close split decision and earn 3 points, which puts him 4th in the current points, but that’s a position he will almost certainly lose, meaning he’s failed to make the play off world title tournament.
Jeremy had a great start, dominating the striking, stuffing all takedowns and trying hard for the KO in round 1, knowing he needed the first round KO to make the playoffs. He didn’t succeed: But he was so far ahead this round that he peaked at a 14-1 favorite.
Round 2 Stephens was noticeably tired and the round was extremely close, Jeremy may have landed the harder strikes while Price probably landed slightly more.
Round 3 and Miles got a takedown and some top control on a gassed out Stephens and easily took that round leaving the fight ultra close. Jeremy landed more strikes and better strikes and if scored as a whole would have definitely won but round by round left it razor thin.
Luckily 2 of 3 judges sided with Stephens who picks up his first PFL win. It’s yet to prove good enough to make play offs. At one point Jeremy was a 14-1 favorite by the end of round 3, his opponent was a 5-1 favorite in love odds, which I didn’t understand as it was very close. Kenny Florian and Randy Couture also had the fight for Stephens, as did the fan vote and the PFL FPR electronic scoring.
